Equine Therapy Alliance understands the mental health crisis among our youth community. Many mental health disorders first present during adolescence. It has been estimated between 20% and 30% of adolescents have one major depressive episode before they reach adulthood. For a quarter of individuals with mood disorders like depression, these first emerge during adolescence. Tragically, suicide is the third leading cause of death in adolescents and young adults. With your donation, we will be able to make a difference in their lives. Because of you, these programs can be offered for free to the youth in our community.

We understand that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) experience a cultural stigma around mental illness, systemic racism and discrimination, language barriers, a lack of health insurance, mistrust of mental health care providers, and a lack of cultural competency on the part of mental health care providers. Your donation will make the change, and create these programs to be provided free of charge.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community represents a diverse range of identities and expressions of gender and sexual orientation. With shame or stigma surrounding mental health, and paired with lack of competent providers, this community struggles with the challenges surrounding mental health. With your donation, they are able to find the confidence and clarity they need at no cost to them.

We Support our Military and their families. Whether they are active duty or a member of our veteran community. The mental health consequences of military trauma are often distressing, disabling and persistent unless there are timely interventions. Research indicates that as many as 50% of veterans experience significant difficulty acclimating with a third developing mental health problems including PTSD, anxiety disorders and depression. Your donation gives you the opportunity to serve the ones who serve and have served, by providing equine-assisted therapy free of charge.

When it comes to our Intellectual and Developmentally disabled communities their mental health services can be stunted by the lack of funding available. Since most are on some sort of financial aid, being able to afford services like equine assisted therapy create challenges. Our goal is for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) feel less alone and more connected to community. Your donation will provided these life changing services for them at no cost.

Around one in five women have a common mental health problem such as depression and anxiety. While there can be many reasons why these develop, some risk factors affect many women. Women are more likely to live in poverty which, along with concerns about personal safety and working mainly in the home, can lead to social isolation. They are more likely to experience physical and sexual abuse, which can have a long-term impact on their mental health. They are more likely to experience sexual violence, which can cause PTSD. Your donation will help provide services for our underserved women in our community for free.
