Board of Directors

Marie Hancock - Founder, Chair, Executive Director

Marie Hancock was raised in North Dakota started working with horses at a very young age. Marie learned how powerful relationships with horses can be as an adolescent. Especially because her father was a licensed mental health professional, her interest in psychology created her vision of working with people and with horses for the betterment of both. This came from a deep longing to be of service in a way that also fulfilled her own passion of love for the outdoors and working with horses. Marie is also the owner and director of Colorado Equine Specialist (CES). She founded CES in 2012. After volunteering her time and horse with at risk youth - foster care children, she knew that equine-assisted therapy would be a life long passion of hers. In 2013 she became certified in the Eagala model as an Equine Specialist. Her knowledge of incorporating Equine-assisted therapy extends from military/veteran individuals and families to clients suffering from addiction, depression, and suicidal ideation; from those on the Autistic Spectrum and who have ADHD and other learning differences to terminally ill clients; and clients suffering from anxiety, grief and loss challenges. She has worked with a diverse group of Mental Health practitioners, is an avid animal lover and advocate, and is dedicated to continually deepen and extend her knowledge, her skills, and her ability to serve clients with the Eagala Model.

Stephanie Meinerz - Vice Chair

My Name is David Miller and I have worked with adults, adolescents, children and parents for the last 37 years. I am eclectic in my approach to counseling. I meet the clients where they are at and accept them for who they are and where they are in their lives. I join them in a magnificent journey of change. I have a gentle demeanor and genuine attitude about life which helps me connect with people and develop a remarkable bond that helps each client trust and move in a positive direction. I can take the worst scenario and find the positive outcomes that can come from each situation. My practice focuses on helping people deal with the hard transitions in their life. Whether it is a major change in life, a loss such as death or divorce I will join your path and help you drudge through the muck to help you find some clarity. I have been told I create miracles; I just believe in human nature. All people are born as apiece of gold. As you go through life you tend to get covered up by mud, it is my goal as a counselor to get you to shine like gold again.
